If you're already studying at another university, you can apply to spend time at York as a visiting student. During a period of full-time supervised study, you’ll have the opportunity to fully integrate into academic and social life here on campus and in the city.
We welcome undergraduate and postgraduate visiting students from across the world. You can join us through individual university partnerships, third party providers and country-specific government initiatives, or as an independent applicant.
You can study with us for one semester or a full academic year. After you've completed your studies, we'll issue you with an academic transcript.

What can I study?
We have a wide variety of subjects that you can study across the University. The interdisciplinary nature of our teaching and research means you can apply to study in two departments per semester, subject to acceptance and timetabling.
Teaching and assessment
Teaching usually involves a mixture of lectures, tutorials, seminars, and for some, courses, laboratory and practical work. The methods of assessment also vary across modules and departments.
Fees and living costs
Our campus boasts a range of places to eat and drink. We also have supermarkets, a bank, hairdressers and sports facilities all available on campus. Typically, your living costs will depend on your lifestyle, and tuition fees vary between courses.
If you'd like to join us as a visiting student, you can apply online. You can save your progress at any point and come back to it at another time, but make sure you submit a full application before the deadline.

We provide a wide range of support to you as a visiting student. The Academic Skills Community offers a range of in-person and online help to develop your academic writing skills to a high standard.
An academic supervisor will support you through your studies, and you'll be studying alongside our full-degree students on the same degree modules.
After you accept your place
We will support you as you get ready to start your studies at York. You can attend pre-sessional English Language courses, which are designed to help you improve your language, communication and study skills in preparation for your study at York.
