York Asia Research Network (YARN)
The York Asia Research Network (YARN) is an interdisciplinary group for people across the University whose research interests relate to Asia.
We have built a multifaceted research infrastructure for Asia related research at York: facilitating the creation of new interdisciplinary partnerships; and strengthening existing international collaborations.
Asian research at York has a long history. Drawing on the expertise of over 100 scholars and research students, the York Asia Research Network (YARN) is a focus for Asia-related activities, community building, organising interdisciplinary research events, and supporting initiatives in departments, centres, and across the university
Research regions and members
The Borthwick Institute has recently done some work to add to their online catalogue, https://borthcat.york.ac.uk/, listing various papers they hold of the earls of Halifax that relate to the colonial governance of, and the British experience in, India and Burma. Charles Fonge at the Borthwick would be very pleased to hear from anyone interested in exploring opportunities for the archives to support research, teaching, visits or events.
YARN Seminar Series (for more seminars see the news events pages)
This interdisciplinary series involves an hour-long event each term on any aspect of research concerning Asia, as befits YARN鈥檚 work. The format involves short talks by two to three speakers with significant scope for informal discussion as part of the Q&A. The series is open to all members of the university to attend. However, we are especially dedicated to fostering participation from YARN's research students and early career members as part of building their capacity as academics. If you are interested in presenting your work please email email@example.com.
